In 1918, Hugo Herz and Albert Mecklenburger established Felt Products Manufacturing Company, producing felt seals for the Ford Model T. Five years later, Felt Products purchased a new manufacturing facility and expanded to gasket sets, oil seals, metallic gaskets, and cork and leather material. Soon after, the company’s name was changed to Fel-Pro to match their expanded selection. By the 1970s, their now-iconic blue gasket materials and Blue Stripe design did its job to differentiate the Fel-Pro brand from the competition. In 1998, Federal-Mogul acquired Fel-Pro.
